Dog owners giving up their pets, delaying vet care because of rising costs: report
Two recent cases of dogs being abandoned at a Pennsylvania airport have angered people, but a survey found that many owners are giving up their pets because their pocketbooks are being squeezed.
A report released in September by Veterinarians.org concluded that nearly 17% of 1,000 dog owners surveyed said that they had given up their dog during the last year, with nearly a third of those people saying that their inability to pay for food or veterinary care was a “contributing reason.”
