Local cat café helps pets find their forever homes

Bloomington-Normal’s first ever cat café recently opened in September. The Cat’s Meow Café is a local business that mixes cats with everyone’s favorite drink: coffee.

Customers can enjoy a variety of drinks and snacks while playing with cats. All the cats in the playroom are adoptable. Since its grand opening, The Cat’s Meow Café has helped facilitate 15 adoptions.

Samantha Voelzke, a shift leader, has been involved with the business since the beginning.

“The owner always had this dream. She visited a cat café and kind of just fell in love, ” Voelzke said. “It’s becoming a thing across the U.S., and she thought that this was what Bloomington needed. We wanted to be a space where anyone or everyone could come.”

The café has been open for over a month and has already received positive feedback from the community. They have gained regular customers and have had many beds, toys and food donated for the cats.
