Pittsburgh Public Safety issued a warning Wednesday over a scammer impersonating an animal care and control officer. Authorities say the fake officer is calling residents and requiring payment over the phone for a lost or injured pet. It’s believed the suspect is getting the information on lost pets from social media posts. Animal Care and Control will never call and demand money from residents.Public Safety officials urge anyone who may receive a call like this to report it to police at 412-323-7800.
